After conducting my research on DLCs (Digital Learning Communities) I was pleasantly surprised to find that, Edutopia, is sponsored by the George Lucas Educational Foundation.  Yes the same George Lucas who is married to Melody Hobson, financial expert mogul.  Oh and Mr. Lucas is also the creator of a few mega movie blockbusters Star Wars and Indiana Jones.  researched three DLCs (see the Google bookmarked sites in the image above) but, what made Edutopia standout from the rest was a combination of FREE resources, videos and the online community. The site is easy to navigate, it offers me great resources and an opportunity to share my experiences with others!

After joining the expectations for Digital Citizens are clearly outlined in the Community Guidelines.  As an educator and adult, the site appealed to my sensibilities and the navigation was simple and intuitive.  I believe that students would have less of an interest in joining this DLC without teacher guidance or requirements.   I believe that this is one area where Edutopia may benefit from either developing more student friendly content or even a student led community discussion board to help generate ideas and subject matter for the site.
I
am excited to see where this relationship with Edutopia will take me and how I can improve my pedagogy and create more engaging lessons for students!
