When creating an "ideal" digital learning community there are several factors that should be considered. Ideology, audience and purpose are some of them.
Every group has an ideology, or a system of beliefs
The second is the audience. Who are the members of the community? What are the needs of the community members? How can the changing needs of the community be captured?
The third factor to consider when developing a digital learning community is the purpose. There should be a clear mission outlined by the community or community leaders. As new innovations and digital platforms emerge, before integrating or adopting them the community should vet them against its mission. Is this new innovation in line with the mission of this particular digital learning community? Are there better options? Does it support our mission and purpose? If the answer is no, then the community should seek other options.
Consider what would be needed to create an ideal digital learning community. What would be needed to bring such a vision to fruition? What can one do to make an existing DLC more attractive to and welcoming for students and teachers?
